リズムで覚える７つの方法
その１：“Every week has 7 days, See how many you can say. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. What’s today?”
「毎週は７日あるね。いくつ言えるかな。日、月、火、水、木、金、土。今日は何曜日？」
これはフランス民謡の『フレール・ジャック』のメロディーにあわせてリズムの練習をします。『フレール・ジャック』のメロディーってなんだろうと思われた方は、日本の手遊び歌『グーチョキパーでなにつくろう』のメロディーだと書くと、おわかりでしょう。このメロディーはとても覚えやすいですよね。英語圏の歌は日曜日から覚える歌詞が多いですので、筆者のように週の始まりが月曜日だという感覚に慣れている方は注意してくださいね。
その２：“Sunday, Monday, Tuesday too. Wednesday, Thursday just for you. Friday, Saturday that’s the end. Now let’s say those days again! Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday!”
「日、月、火も。水、木、きみだけのため。金、土、それで終わり。今からもう一度言ってみよう！日、月、火、水、木、金、土！」
これはフランスのシャンソンベースで、日本でもお馴染の『きらきら星』のメロディーにあわせてリズムを練習します。「きみだけのため」や「もう一度言ってみよう」と歌詞にありますから、お母さんが子供のために、覚えてお友達のためになど、誰かと一緒に歌うのも良いですね。
その３：“Today is Sunday. Today is Sunday. All day long, all day long. Yesterday was Saturday.Tomorrow will be Monday. Oh what fun! Oh what fun!”
「今日は日曜。今日は日曜。１日中。１日中。昨日は土曜。明日は月曜。楽しいね！楽しいね！」
これもフランス民謡の『フレール・ジャック』のメロディーにあわせてリズムの練習をします。日曜日を例にしていますが、下線部に今日の曜日、昨日の曜日、明日の曜日を入れて練習します。これは、他の例で週をある程度覚えたら、その曜日から前日と翌日の曜日が何かを練習するのに最適ですね。

これは映画やTVドラマで知られている『アダムス・ファミリー』のテーマソングにあわせてリズムの練習をします。(clap, clap)のところは手を叩いてください。現代っ子の皆さん、『アダムス・ファミリー』って古いんじゃ…と思わないでくださいね。筆者と同年代もしくは上の世代の方々でこのテーマソングを知らない人は少ないでしょう。そのぐらい覚えやすいメロディーですから、練習にはピッタリですよね。
その５：“These are all the days of the wee-eek, Sing with me, Sing with me. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, A day to play.”
「これらは週の曜日だよ。一緒に歌おう。一緒に歌おう。日、月、火、水、木、金、土、遊びの日。」
これもフランス民謡の『フレール・ジャック』のメロディーにあわせてリズムの練習をします。「一緒に歌おう」や「遊びの日」と歌詞にありますから、お友達と一緒に歌ったり、お母さんが子供さんに歌ってあげると良いでしょう。子供さんも自然と覚え、そういえばお母さんがこんな歌を歌ってくれてたなと思い出すでしょう。

これはアメリカ民謡『いとしのクレメンタイン』のメロディーにあわせてリズムの練習をします。メロディーはレトロ感が強いですが、カウボーイを連想させる独特なものですので、『フレール・ジャック』や『きらきら星』のような幼児向けのメロディーはちょっと…と思われる方におすすめです。
その７：“Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. ”
「日、月、火、水、木、金、土、日、月、火、水、木、金、土。」
これもアメリカ民謡『いとしのクレメンタイン』のメロディーにあわせてリズムの練習をします。これは、その６と違い、曜日だけを繰り返して言うだけの、すごくシンプルなものですので、効率的で幼児向けのメロディーではないものを希望される場合におすすめです。
